1. 2 Jul 1940 HMS Seawolf (Lt.Cdr. J.W. Studholme, DSC, RN) departed Rosyth for her 12th war patrol. She was ordered to perform a special operation and to patrol off the south-west coast of Norway.
2. 4 Jul 1940 At 2230 hours, HMS Seawolf (Lt.Cdr. J.W. Studholme, DSC, RN), landed two Norwegian officers at Ullero Island, Norway (Operation Thwart).
3. 9 Jul 1940 At 2315 hours, HMS Seawolf (Lt.Cdr. J.W. Studholme, DSC, RN) picked up the two Norwegian officers,that she had landed on the 4th and a third officer, at Ullero Island, Norway (Operation Thwart).
4. 10 Jul 1940 HMS Seawolf (Lt.Cdr. J.W. Studholme, DSC, RN) attacked a German A/S trawler with three torpedoes south of Lindesness, Norway. No hits were obtained. The target was possibly the German auxiliary submarine chaser UJ 127. 0718 hours - In position 57°54'N, 07°03'E fired three torpedoes against a large A/S trawler from a range of 1100 yards. No hits were obtained. No counter attack followed.
5. 12 Jul 1940
   HMS Seawolf (Lt.Cdr. J.W. Studholme, DSC, RN) ended her 12th war patrol at Rosyth. "

"After nightfall the next day. the two officers were landed at Ullerøy Island just west of Lindesnes by rubber dinghy (Berthon Boat) brought along especially for this purpose. This mission, known as Operation Thwart, was the first of many to land agents by submarine on the Norwegian coast
during the war.

From Ullerøy, Danielsen and Voltersvik were taken to the mainland by friendly countrymen and continued on to Oslo by train; the radio quipment was carried in a suitcase. In Oslo, the radio was rigged up in the basement of a fellow naval officer and became one of the first stations in any occupied country transmitting regular messages to Britain."
