Notes on Agenda for Thirtieth Meeting of the ANGLO-NORWEGIAN” COLLABORATION COMMITTEE at 16.00 hours on Thursday, 8th June, 1944,
l. It will be best to extend a formal welcome to Commander Horve, who is being brought on to the Committee on the Norwegian side, consequent on the transfer of the administration of N.N.I.U. at Scalloway Base from the Norwegian High Command to the Norwegian Naval Command. He is an old friend of ours, and has been associated with us in work in the Shetlands, where he was with the 30th M.T.B.Flotilla, and previously in connection with combined operations on the Norwegian Coast.
2. Points arising out of the Minutes of the 29th Meeting, held on 14th April, 1944.
(a) Present position at Shetland. This is almost satisfactory and there are very few outstanding points of detail consequent on the changeover in administration. Lt.L.Hauge, R.N.N. has been replaced by Lt.Henriksen. The formal thanks of the Committee may be extended to Lt.Hauge for the excellent service which he has rendered over the past two years.
(b) No other points arise.
3. Situation in Norway, with reference to the Labour Mobilisation of Norwegian youth. Discussion of this question may be invited from the Norwegian members.
There are, however, no differences of opinion and the campaign as a whole appears to be going well. I attached an appreciation of the situation as an Appendix to the Monthly Progress Report. I attach a copy of this for re-reference,(C)
4. Future Directives, on:
(a) Organised Groups.
(b) Home Front.
I attach copies of the Directive issued over the B.B.C. (A) as approved by S.H.A.E.F. and of the signal which is being sent to 24 out of 26 of our W/T stations, in NORWAY. (B).
5. Any other business.
No other present points to make.

MINUTES OF THE THIRTIETH MEETING OF THE ANGLO-NORWEGIAN COLLABORATION COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, 8th June 1944.
AD/E welcomed Commander Horve as a Norwegian member of the Committee.
1. Points arising out of the Minutes of the Twenty-ninth Meeting.
D/S reviewed the position at the Shetland base, and stated that the present situation was satisfactory, but stressed the problem of spare parts for the sub chasers. DS/US explained that attempts are being made to obtain these spare parts in this country, but suggested that should these fail Lt.Holbrook should go to U.S.A. to collect them.
AD/E asked that the Committee's appreciation of Lt.L.Hauge's services with N.N.I.U. should be recorded in the Minutes.
2. The Present Position in Norway with reference to the Labour Mobilisation of Norwegian Youth.
In response to a question from AD/E, SU stated that on the whole the situation was satisfactory, but he feared that in time the problem would become greater. With regard to the number of conscripts involved, he thought this would be
considerably less than 60,000. SU explained to the meeting the action taken so far in guiding the Home Front by broadcast directives. D/S suggested, and the Meeting agreed, that preparations should be made for a weekly B.B.C. broadcast to Norway during the summer months giving. practical advice on
fieldcraft to those in hiding, and stressing the necessity for them to disperse into small groups.
Whilst these groups would be able to support themselves in hiding during the summer months, DS/US drew attention to the difficulty of obtaining sufficient food with the approach of autumn and winter. AD/E agreed that in view of this
preparations should be made in good time for supplies to be brought from this country. Se and listen to the story here:
3. Future Directives to Organised Groups.
D/S reported on the action already taken in the form of broadcast messages and directives, and suggested that further messages should be broadcast regularly.
4. Any other business.
(a) D/S referred to the season's operations, and quoted extracts from reports.
(b) SU asked whether information with regard to recent S.0.E. experience in France could be made available for study. In reply AD/E said he hoped that before the next meeting such information would be available. He thought that so far there was evidence of the enemy seriously underestimating the strength of the resistance organisations, inasmuch as very few casualties had been
reported amongst them.
