OPERATION TYBALT 29. Taking-off in the half light of dusk, the pilot F/Lt Stiles, lost his port inner engine at 100 feet. Unable to continue the climb he made a skilful crash landing into woods close to the airfield at Sandy. (There is mention in the Accident report that the port outer may also have lost power). The Halifax caught fire after impact. Although the crew survived, four were seriously injured. ACL p240
