Reference your 2739 of 13.1.42. There is one possible way in which information of the Floro raid Could have been given on the other side. On 1.12.41 a telegram was received from SL at Lerwick to the effect that the C-in-C Home Fleet had asked for a Norwegian, with local knowledge of Floro to be sent for an interview on the HMS King George V that day. One of the crew, Kinn L.L. was
sent over with SL.2. A further telegram was received on 2.12.41 that the two had returned and that the C-in-C had signalled "visit of of great value”.
On 5.12.41 "Siglaos" left Lunna bound for Skorpa to land Antrum. The skipper was Blystad and Silden S.S. was a member of the crew. There. is every possibility that Kinn, on his return from Scapa, disclosed smething of his interview. No enquiries have as yet been made fram SL concerning this. Owing to adverse weather, the "Siglaos" actuelly anchored at Silden on the morning of the 7th. The sklpper and Silden went ashore with one of the agents and paid a visit to the latter's femily in order to obtain local information as to watch-posts etc. The Sighsos lay in the harbour until the afternoon, when a member of the Silden family came aboard and told then that there was much speculetion amongst the local people, since the number of the boat was the same as that of a cutter belonging to the Gestapo. They therefore left at dusk.
So far as I can ascertain, no information about the various Operations, giving any kind of detail, was communicated to SL before the Siglaos salled. Apart from this boat and this operation none of our men had been over to the other side in the interim between specific information being given to SL-and the actual execution of the raid. Silden S.S© is a comperatively new recruit, having arrived in the Shetlands on 27.11.41 after a fortnight's training at S.T.S.4.— He is. at present in London and can be made available for interrogation if you so desire.
