MINUTES OF THE THIRTY-SECOND MEETING OF THE ANGLO-NORWEGIAN COLLABORATION COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, 28th September, 1944.
In response to a request from AD/E, SU stated that he was in favour of those meetings continuing, but that in view of his impending departure from this country he recommended that, if the Meeting agreed, Colonel Christoffersen, Chief-of-Starf to General Hansteen, should be invited to attend as a Norwegian member. The Meeting agreed with this recommendation.
1. Points arising out of the Minutes of the Thirty-second Meetings:
The Supply of W/T Equipment from U.S.A. DS/US reported that the supply situation was satisfactory, and D/S added that the supply of W/T equipment no longer presented any problems.
2. Allied Missions to Norway.
D/S pointed out the object of these Missions, and SU explained the position of his particular Mission in relation to Mil.Org. S.F.H.Q., and other possible Missions. The Meeting emphasised the fact that these Missions wore being sent under the authority of S.H.A.E.F.
3. Dispatch of Norwegian Army Officers to Mil.orgs Groups.
With reference to these pending operations, and possible subsequent deliveries of supplies and equipment for these groups, AD/E stated that elsewhere experience had show the necessity of a continual supply of arms and equipment to patriot forces immediately in the rear of the advance of Allied armies, as such forces might be called upon to deal with pockets of resistance by-passed by the armies. This led on to the problem of daylight dropping to Norvay on a fairly large scale. AD/E stated: that printed rules with regard to daylight dropping existed, and should be obtained for dispatch to groups In the field. SU suggested that, apart from daylight dropping, direct landings by aircraft on frozen lakes should be considsred, and that Major Halle should be asked to advise on this subject.
4. Any other business.
(a) D/S asked that an expression of sympathy should be recorded in the Minutes for the loss to Col.Balchen of an operational crew and of Col Allen on operational flights over Norway. AD/E asked 0S/US to convey the Commaittee’s sympathy to Col. Baichen.
(b) In response to a question from SU, AD/E stated that on the whole the supply situation was satisfactory, but recommended that the question of medical supplies in bulk should be gone into, and asked D/S to get into touch with Brigadier Bager for this purpose.
