"That it was a casualty of the night is established by its history card which records its loss through flying battle damage on 30/31 March. No 299 Squadron also lost two Stirlings, LK332 flown by F/L Trevor-Roper, and PK225 captained by F/L Anderson. The success rate for the night was high but the cost was prohibitive. Unfortunately, it was a pattern that was to repeat itself throughout April when good weather allowed intensive operations as the war rolled over the German borders."

"The other loss was the crew of F/Lt Arbuthnot Anderson, although the circumstances surrounding the loss of this aircraft is also unclear. The Stirling PK225 5G-Q is believed to have crashed into the North Sea with the loss of all six crew members. The crew also were briefed to drop on Stirrup 8. Again, this region was under the control of Milorg D-16, and it is understood that the crew were operating in support of "Starlight In 2012, while surveying for a future high voltage cable connection between the UK and Norway the wreckage of an unidentified ‘bomber’? was discovered. In 2017, the ‘bomber’? was re-visited and photographs of what appeared to be the remains of a Short Stirling were found. The media have since reported that the wreckage found was that of Short Stirling PK225 SG-Q."
