"H2S was the first airborne, ground scanning radar system. It was developed in Britain during World War II for the Royal Air Force and was used in various RAF bomber aircraft from 1943 through to the 1990s. It was designed to identify targets on the ground for night and all-weather bombing. The early variants of the transmitter/receiver equipment were officially known as TR3159 (H2S Mk I/ASV VIB) or TR3191 (H2S Mk II)."

4 fly i D18. VET 12 Halvardvann. AM nr 498. ( Operasjon 1015 - dykkere)
Disse slippene ble kallt HLD drop - "High Level Drops" - og med FUZE "Delayed release switches" @Sizzling Viper / @Speedy Slash

Copy to A.I.20. Air Ministry.
Date:12th February, 1945.
DARK PERIOD OPERATIONS TO NORWAY.
Would you please arrange the following two points with Special Force Headquarters:-
1. Reception lights for the above operations should as far as possible coke 1st of bonfires.
2. The Reception Committees should be warned that with the impending introduction of "Delay drops" aircraft will be flying much higher than usual. The "Ground" should therefore be instructed to flash their recognition letters to all aircraft passing near their pin-point. When bonfires cannot be lit, reception lights should be as bright as security permits so as to provide a distinct aiming point easily visible from 4,000 to 5.000 feet.
Please explain to S.F.H.Q. that unless these requests are cocmplied with our "No Receptions" will increase considerably.
