Their mission: To reconnoitre the ÅndalsnesDombås railway, prepare weapons and explosives dumps near the railway, prepare counter-scorch plans for the railway.
9. Met: After crossing the Norwegian coast visibility was unlimited with no cloud. When within a few miles og target area, all ground detail was obscured by coastal mist, clear skies.
10. Captain: THe last visual pinpoint was madde at GEIRANGER on the southern tip of Sunnylven fjord, and thereafter it was impossible to pick up further ground detail as the coastal fog completely obliterated everthing. A DR run was made from the estimated position of Tafjord target. Nothing was recogniced, and second run was made from the estimated position of Otta lake, but again it was impossible to pick up ground detail. A third run was made from the NW of target, and this time a wood was seen, which was through to be recogniced, and cousre was set for the target but nothing was recogniced. Task were abadoned and loud brought back to base. Fieldfare was satisfied with thie methode of search ensured security and expressed desire to visuallu assist crew in view of his knowledge of local contours in selecting dropping point.
