1. Captains report .

• Halifax aircraft 9618 W took off on operation "Bittern" captained by F/Lt Sutton. Target Norway. Operation successful. Landed ACKLINGTON at 03:10
• Pinpoint found, but too dark to see the conturs clearly. One light or oil lamp seen within area of dropping point; Men dropped to SE of it some distance, and dropped from 600-700 feet on course of N after leaving target 5 or 6 miles behind Torch seen flashing from where men were dropped.
• Men in good spirit, jumped at once. They served quite satisfied as to where they were beeing put down, having seen out of the plane. 10 chutes seen to open. Airspeed of time of jumping 123 mph.
• Leaflets dropped SKIEN at 03:20 hrs, 2000'.
• Enemy opposition :Hensted 01:30 2000', S/Lt e/a. Seen while circled around.
• Flig by Flamboro Head and diverted to RAF ACKLINGTON.
