1. Captains report
Halifax aircraft "O" 281 took off operation GUNNERSIDE captained by S/L Gibson. Target Norway. Operation not successful. Landed KINLOSS 04:45

Weater as briefed over North Sea, but on tip of Norway was observed in clud, clear over Norway with fog in valleys N of target area. Crossed English coast at Cromer 20:31 hrs at 1000'. abd Norwegian coast S of Kragerø 23:15 at 6000'. Failed to find any recogniceable pinpoint eventually pinpointed of the **** at 00:01 hrs. then set course for Lake TINN which was pinpointed at 00:52but overshot, and owing to sbow + ice it was difficult to recognice the lake. The pinpointed of what were thought to be GJUVVIK + set course for pinpoint. As no reception was found, and it was not concidered certain that the passengers cant be found within 20 miles of point, a/c returned for home. Passenger was satisfied that there was no reception. Aerodrome 5 miles WSW of Farsun 02:44 hWeater as briefed over North Sea, but on tip of Norway was observed in clud, clear over Norway with fog in valleys N of target area. Crossed English coast at Cromer 20:31 hrs at 1000'. abd Norwegian coast S of Kragerø 23:15 at 6000'. rs 4000'. 2-3 L/F Guns fairly accurate.
