1. Captains report

Whitley aircraft No 9230 took off oon operation COCKEREL, Captained by S/L Davies. Reached English coast at WELLS at 21:36. Crossing enemy coast, set course for target, pinpointing Herefoss Fjord, road, railwas alongside. Found lake by pinpoint, circle for a whhile to see if reception comittedd were going to play, attemt they were not, passengers and cargo were dropped sucessfully on E side of lake from 800 'ft. Course after that for Lindesnes, in arrival at vincinity of Lyngdal, ***** *****. Return and landed at base at 05:20

Flyet Tor Hugo er om bord i, har polsk mannskap, og han skal droppes over Herefoss i Vest-Agder. Ordren om å hoppe blir gitt, men Tor Hugo protesterer. Etter hans oppfatning må maskinen være altfor høyt, men flyverne sier at de nettopp så lyngbakkene under og gjentar ordren.


De må ha forvekslet lyngmarker med skyer, for Tor Hugo driver og driver gjennom natten under den veldige skjermen. Så vokser landskapet under ham, og det er et tettbygd strøk! Han har drevet milevis bort fra den avtalte landingsplassen, og mot seg ser han nå plutselig et kirkespir stritte opp fra gråsvart mark. Alt er så meningsløst og grotesk at han hyler av desperat latter.

"To carry out instruction and training in the Kristiansand area. In August 1941, Jensen left for Sweden followed by Hagen, who became part of Operation Carhampton in early 1943. After this operation was abandoned he stayed behind in southern Norway to help F. Aaraas operate the ‘Carhampton’ W/T station. Aaraas was captured on 12 August 1943 but Hagen managed to escape."
